VPS packages allow you to feel the
power of dedicated with a fraction
of cost. With a VPS, you get direct
root access to your VPS, allowing
you to install custom software and
make many alterations not possible
with a typical hosting account. You
receive a dedicated and guaranteed
portion of server resources
including CPU & RAM. VPS is better
than semi-dedicated as in the latter
case anyone can use up all the
resources which should be equally
available. But we understand the
concept of fairness and hence
guarantee the resource deployment.
All accounts come with CentOS
installed by default. If you wish to
have an alternative operating system
installed, simply let us know during
the ordering process. There is no
installation charge.
The default nameservers would be
ns1.yourdomain.com and
ns2.yourdomain.com, kindly suggest
with an email during the order
process if you want them to be
different. The default hostname
would be server.yourdomain.com.
Server Specification
The minimum specification LayerWeb
uses for VPS servers are Dual
Core/Dual CPU AMD servers with at
least 2GB RAM (upgraded as
necessary).
Our VPS servers are housed at the
SoftLayer data center in Dallas,
Texas, using the following carriers:
AboveNet, Verio, Internap, Savvis
and Global Crossing. All premium
bandwidth providers.
